A childcare nursery by Gartcosh with 3 spaces
Each of our three playrooms gives children room to enjoy their current stage, with care and activities tailored to their needs.
We will discuss with you once they are ready to move into the next room, making sure every child takes this step at their own pace.
Little Acorns aged 6 weeks to 2 years
Little Acorns is a gentle, peaceful room where your baby can enjoy cuddling, floor play and first discoveries alongside people who take the time to know them well.
Regular mealtimes provide the day with a reassuring rhythm, helping to establish a secure environment through morning snack at 8.30 am, lunch at 11.30 am and afternoon snack at 3.00 pm.
Throughout, we attend to your baby’s needs, making room for play and allowing them to sleep whenever they need it.
When you collect your baby, we’ll describe their meals and sleep, then update you on the small moments you missed, helping you share in their day.
Bright Blossoms 2-3 years old
At Bright Blossoms, inquisitive toddlers are warmly encouraged to have a go themselves.
During snack time, pouring their own drinks and locating their named peg provide small, manageable opportunities to practise independence, with support available whenever needed.
That same patience also applies to toilet training. We respond to your child’s cues and collaborate with you to maintain consistency across home and nursery.
Minor accidents are just part of learning, so we never make a fuss!
Our caring service acknowledges that your little one learns something new each day, and we will support them as they progress at a pace that suits them.
Songs and everyday conversations, along with stories, assist children in exploring unfamiliar words. If you have concerns about your child’s speech, our facility will collaborate with you to offer the most effective support.
When emotions become too much, we help children recognise them, understand them, and find a way through.
Mighty Oaks for children aged 3 – 5 years old
At Mighty Oaks, we assist your child in developing the confidence required to move on to school and increasingly formal education.
Daily successes, such as putting away a coat or seeking help from an adult, help them develop managing tasks independently.
Through shared play, children learn to listen, take turns and solve problems alongside their friends.
Stories, counting and early writing are incorporated into activities they enjoy, allowing them to build those skills through play.
Strong friendships formed here frequently continue into P1, offering reassurance during that significant transition.

A Montessori style nursery in the vicinity of Gartcosh
Viewpark’s Montessori inspired philosophy recognises the understanding children develop through their own exploration.
Along with modern early years practice, we create space for children to explore outside, play imaginatively and shape nursery life with their own ideas.
Strengthening independence in early childhood
Children are encouraged to make choices and take an active part in nursery life, helping to tidy up after snacks and look after the environment around them.
We allow them time to practise, with support on hand whenever they require it, so they can enjoy the confidence that arises from doing something on their own.
Open-air play throughout all seasons
Youngsters, including our youngest infants, spend time outdoors throughout the year, whatever the weather.
Observing the trees and feeling the grass under their feet offers younger children new discoveries, whilst older children have room to run, climb and dig.
As children move freely outdoors, they can build balance and coordination while developing confidence in everything they can do.
Things can become messy! Dress your child in clothing you do not mind becoming muddy, with suitable outdoor layers for the weather.
Please mark their possessions, and before they start, our team are always prepared to explain what they should bring for their age.
Practical education through untidy play
At our nursery near Gartcosh, children can explore paint, water, sand and mud in plentiful supply.
Experiencing different textures, pouring water and making painted marks allow children to investigate through their senses while finding new ways to express themselves.
Your child can test an idea, observe the result and try once more.
Our team encourages curiosity and gives them time to explore what interests them, developing confidence in their own findings!
Care and safety for each child
Our nursery close to Gartcosh is equipped with a secure access system, while children are supervised during the day.
Our team undertakes continual training in safeguarding, alongside instruction in first aid and health and safety.
We undertake routine risk assessments and maintain our fire safety equipment, emergency lighting, water safety measures and electrical safety checks.
If a child has an accident, they get immediate comfort and first aid whenever needed.
We record each accident and explain it at collection. Any head bump or injury requiring additional attention prompts an immediate call to you.
Free settling sessions provided by our group
At Viewpark, we advise at least three settling sessions prior to your child’s first complete day at nursery.
There is no cost for each session, and we will organise further appointments around your family’s needs.
You are welcome to stay for as long as needed, but we usually advise briefly stepping away. This enables our friendly team and your child to begin building their own special relationship.
Comforters and dummies are welcome as well.
Nursery finance and costs for Gartcosh parents
Viewpark Montessori Nursery offers funded places for children aged three to five and qualifying two-year-olds.

If you are located in Gartcosh, please call us on 01698 840222. We will discuss what may suit your family and outline the next steps before you send in your application.

It also includes regular photographs, observations and learning updates, together with the weekly menu and monthly newsletter.

Dishes and light bites during early years hours
A nearby catering company prepares and brings lunch to the nursery each day, while our staff prepares the snacks internally.
Meals are customised to support every child’s developmental phase, with weaning provided where appropriate.
Before your child starts, we will verify any allergies, intolerances, or medical or cultural dietary requirements with you, ensuring all staff understand them.
With permission from their parents, children brush their teeth daily as part of Childsmile, Scotland’s national programme for child oral health.

Often raised queries about our nursery centre near Gartcosh
What the Montessori approach stands for at our Viewpark Nursery
Established as a Montessori nursery, we have upheld its enduring values of independence, curiosity, respect and hands on learning. Now, while not exclusively Montessori, we incorporate these principles into contemporary early years practice, making room for each child’s individual interests to guide their journey.
Do you have a nursery waiting list?
Child vacancies can change across the year! Some rooms may have availability at present, while others operate a waiting list. Contact us early, even if you will not need a place straight away.
Can another person fetch my child?
Certainly, provided you notify us beforehand. If we have encountered the individual previously, they may pick up your child with your authorisation. If they are unfamiliar to us, we will need the password agreed with you before releasing your child to them.
Does my child must be potty trained for the Mighty Oaks class?
Children joining Mighty Oaks should generally be toilet trained. If your child has a medical condition or requires extra support, we will agree the most appropriate approach with you.
At what time is the nursery unavailable?
We are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, the final Monday in May, the September Weekend, and for two weeks over Christmas and New Year, arranged as closely as possible around North Lanarkshire school holidays. Any further closures are announced well ahead of time via our newsletters.
