Little Acorns

0–2 years

Where the littlest acorns take their very first steps

We take babies from six weeks old, and we have never once forgotten what that first morning feels like. Little Acorns is a small, calm room for babies and young toddlers, where the people looking after your child learn their routine before they learn to walk.

Cuddles come first. Everything else follows.

Babies learn when they feel safe, and they feel safe with people who know them - who know which song settles them, which cuddle they want, and what a particular cry means before your child has the words to explain it. That is the first job of everyone in Little Acorns, and everything else we do sits on top of it.

Settling, at your baby’s pace

Some children settle immediately, while others need a little more time - and that’s perfectly normal. We’ll work closely with you every step of the way.

More about settling in

Three sessions, free of charge

We recommend a minimum of three settling sessions before your baby’s first full day, and we’ll tailor any additional sessions completely around your family’s needs. There is no charge for any of them.

Stay as long as you need

You’re welcome to stay during settling sessions. We usually suggest slipping away for a little while too, because that’s how our team and your baby start building their own relationship.

Comforters are welcome

Dummies, muslins, a particular teddy - comforters are welcome here to help your child settle. As children grow in confidence and settle into the room, most begin to need them less, in their own time.

A day that follows your baby, not the clock

Our day has a rhythm rather than a timetable. There are fixed points – morning snack at half eight, lunch at half eleven, afternoon snack at three – and around them the day belongs to the babies: floor play, songs, books, the garden in all weathers, and sleep whenever they need it.

Milk, meals and first tastes

A healthy, balanced lunch is provided each day by a trusted local catering company, and our team offer nutritious snacks throughout the day – so children get used to trying new things in a relaxed, social little group.

  • Morning snack
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon snack
  • Drinks throughout the day
  • Weekly menus, so you always know what’s coming

We cater for allergies, intolerances, medical dietary requirements and cultural preferences, and we go through everything with you before your child starts so every member of the team knows your child’s needs.

What your fees include

Safe, and never out of sight

Your child’s safety and wellbeing are our highest priorities – and in the baby room that means the essential, foundational details are done flawlessly every single day.

Out in the fresh air – even the little ones

Babies get outside too. Every child spends time outdoors in all weathers, all year round – watching the trees, feeling the grass, or wobbling about holding somebody’s hand. Send waterproofs and a warm hat and we’ll do the rest.

You’ll know exactly how their day went

Your baby can’t tell you about their day yet, so we do it for them – photographs, observations and learning updates as they happen, and a proper conversation at the door when you collect: what they ate, how they slept, what made them laugh.

Weekly menus and monthly newsletters keep the rest of the family in the loop.

How you’ll hear

Questions parents ask

Don’t just take our word for it

The kind words we receive from families mention the same things again and again - our caring staff, the relationships we build, and how happy their children are here. Those are the things we’re proudest of.

  • A truly exceptional nursery… I can’t recommend Viewpark Montessori enough!

    Maxine

    Parent, Little Acorns

  • The staff are so lovely, helpful and kind. They have taken time to listen to our daughter’s needs… We’ve felt so lucky that she has been in safe hands.

    Fiona

    Parent, Mighty Oaks

  • I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough… The staff consistently display an incredible level of passion, commitment and genuine care. They don’t just mind the children; they truly invest in them.

    Suzanne

    Parent, Bright Blossoms

  • Skye is naturally quite shy and can take a little while to come out of her shell, but she absolutely loves all the nursery ladies… It’s been amazing for us to watch Skye grow in confidence and develop throughout her time at Viewpark Montessori.

    Shug

    Parent, Mighty Oaks

  • My children settled well in every room of the nursery and had great bonds with their keyworkers and other staff members… Two of my children who are now in Primary school still talk about things they done in nursery with their ladies and will often ask to come along and see everyone again.
