Words, all day long
Children learn to talk by being talked to and, just as importantly, by being listened to. So we narrate the day: what we’re doing, what they’re doing, what happens next. We sing, we read the same book for the fifteenth time, we name the colours on the wall and the fruit on the snack plate, and we leave a gap in the conversation for a child who is still finding their words.
Children arrive here at wildly different stages – some in full sentences, some with a handful of words – and both are completely normal. If you have any worry at all about your child’s talking, tell us on your visit; we’d far rather know from day one.
Big feelings, met with patience
Two-year-olds experience the world with immense emotion. Our team meet these big feelings with steady, warm patience. We help children name what they are feeling, support them through challenging moments and celebrate the milestones of emotional growth every day.
Whether we’re supporting a child through a difficult stage or sharing one of those proud “I did it!” moments, we’ll tell you about it honestly at the end of the day – the whole day, not just the good bits.
Send them in clothes you don’t mind getting messy
Toddlerhood involves paint, water, sand, mud and active outdoor exploration. We want your child to move and explore freely, so please dress them in comfortable play clothes that are ready for messy fun. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled.
Outdoor clothing, please: children are outside exploring in all weathers, all year round.
Safe hands, all day
Your child’s safety and wellbeing are our highest priorities – and with children this age that means eyes on them, doors locked, and a clear routine for the things that occasionally go wrong.
