Harthill Nursery

Give your child a confident beginning with Montessori inspired care from six weeks to five years.

Children playing in the nursery garden

For more than 25 years, North Lanarkshire families have trusted Viewpark Montessori Nursery to help their children feel settled and happy while they grow up.

We take the time to get to know your child, from the routines that reassure them to the subjects that stimulate their curiosity. They can pursue those interests through play, with familiar adults nearby to support them as they grow more independent.

Complimentary settling sessions give you and your child a gentle opportunity to get to know us ahead of their first full day.

If you are seeking a nursery near Harthill, we encourage you to meet our nearby team, tour the playrooms and discover whether Viewpark is the right choice for your family.

A nursery facility adjacent to Harthill with a trio of rooms

Throughout our three playrooms, children can thrive at their individual stage, surrounded by thoughtful care and activities tailored to their needs.

We will talk about the suitable time for your child to move to the following room, enabling them to advance at a pace that works for them.

Little Acorns aged 6 weeks to 2 years

Little Acorns is a gentle, peaceful space where your infant can enjoy cuddling, floor play and first discoveries alongside people who make time to get to know them well.

Predictable mealtimes give the day with a comforting rhythm, helping to create a secure environment through morning snack at 8.30 am, lunch at 11.30 am and afternoon snack at 3.00 pm.

Throughout, we attend to your baby’s needs, making space for play and letting them sleep whenever they need it.

When you collect your baby, we will talk about their feeding and sleep, then share the little moments you missed, so you feel included in their day.

Sitting in the sand tray

Bright Blossoms aged 2 to 3

At Bright Blossoms, inquisitive toddlers receive strong support to try things independently.

Pouring their own drinks at snack-time and finding their named peg provide simple, achievable opportunities to develop independence, with support on hand when necessary.

The same patience is maintained during toilet training. We follow your child’s signals and collaborate closely with you, creating consistency between home and nursery.

We understand that minor accidents naturally accompany learning, so we do not make a fuss.

Each day offers your child a new discovery, and our supportive service is here to support and guide them at a pace that feels right.

Through songs, stories and everyday conversations, children gain the confidence to try out unfamiliar words. If you feel concerned about your child’s speech, our facility will work with you to provide the support they require.

When emotions become overwhelming, we help children identify, understand, and process them.

Exploring the snow in the garden

Mighty Oaks suitable for ages 3 through 5 years

At Mighty Oaks, we help your child in developing the confidence required to progress into school and increasingly formal education.

Daily accomplishments, including tidying away their coat or asking for help from an adult, provide valuable experience in handling tasks on their own.

As children play together, they rehearse listening, sharing turns and solving problems with their friends.

Stories, counting and early writing form part of the activities they love, allowing these key skills to thrive organically through play.

The close friendships formed here often continue into P1, giving reassurance during that significant transition.

Running under the trees

A Montessori childcare facility close to Harthill

Viewpark’s Montessori inspired approach places emphasis on the learning that children pursue independently.

We integrate this with contemporary early years practice, providing room for outdoor exploration, creative play as well as the ideas children bring to nursery.

Growing independence from a young age

Children are encouraged to make decisions and play an active role in nursery life, from tidying away after snacks to looking after their surroundings.

We give them time to practise, providing support whenever needed, so they can enjoy the confidence developed through doing things independently.

Outside activities in every seasons

Children, including our youngest babies, are outdoors in all weathers all year round.

Watching trees and feeling the grass under their feet provides younger children new details to discover, whilst older children can run, climb and dig freely.

Being able to move about freely outside allows children to build their balance and coordination, while building confidence in their own capabilities.

Things can get messy. Put your child in clothes appropriate for mud, with outdoor layers appropriate for the weather.

Please label all their belongings, and before they begin, our team can always advise you on what is suitable to bring for their age.

Practical education through chaotic recreation

Within our nursery near Harthill, children can explore paint, water, sand and mud in plentiful supply.

As they feel different textures, pour water and create marks using paint, they explore through their senses and discover new ways to express themselves.

Your child can try out an idea, observe the result and try again.

Our team fosters curiosity and gives children time to explore what engages them, reinforcing confidence in their own discoveries.

Welfare and security for every child

Located near Harthill, our nursery operates a secure access system, while children are supervised throughout the day.

Our team gets ongoing training in safeguarding, together with training in first aid and health and safety.

We complete regular risk assessments and maintain our fire safety equipment, emergency lighting, water safety and electrical safety checks.

When a child has an accident, they get immediate comfort and first aid whenever it is needed.

At collection, we will document and clarify every accident, while any head injury or injury requiring additional attention will result in an immediate telephone call to you.

Complimentary resettlement consultations from our team

At Viewpark, we recommend at least three settling sessions prior to your child’s first complete day at nursery.

There is no charge for each session, and we will organise further appointments to suit the needs of your family.

You are welcome to remain for as long as required, although we generally recommend briefly stepping away, as this gives our welcoming team and your child the chance to begin developing their own special bond.

Comforters and dummies are welcome as well.

Preschool grants and fees for Harthill parents

Viewpark Montessori Nursery offers funded places for children aged three to five, as well as eligible children aged two.

Annually, the Scottish Government provides 1,140 hours of early learning and childcare for all children aged three to five and eligible children aged two via your local council.

If you are based in Harthill, telephone us on 01698 840222. We will talk about what may suit your family and guide you through the next steps before applying.

All that your nursery fees cover

Your charge covers excellent care and learning, as well as lunches, snacks and beverages, outdoor play, arts and crafts, and the learning resources children use.

You’ll additionally find regular photographs, observations and learning updates, along with the weekly menu and monthly newsletter.

Families accessing funded sessions are not required to pay a registration fee. The fee applies when a non-funded place is taken up.

Please contact the service directly for the latest information on current fees.

Tax-Free Childcare

When you are unfamiliar with the scheme, our team will be pleased to assist.

Meals and snacks during childcare hours

A local catering company prepares fresh and delivers lunch to the nursery every day, while our staff prepares the snacks.

Every child is provided with meals tailored to their developmental stage, with weaning included when appropriate.

Before your child starts, we review and agree all intolerances, and medical or cultural dietary needs with you, making sure every member of staff understands these requirements.

With parental consent, Childsmile, Scotland’s national child oral health programme, helps children brush their teeth daily.

We are open Monday to Friday, from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm, for 50 weeks each year.

Families may opt for a full day from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm, a morning session from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm, or an afternoon session from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm.

Commonly posed enquiries regarding our nursery school in the vicinity of Harthill

Exactly what does Montessori education mean for Viewpark Nursery?

We started as a Montessori nursery and maintained its values of independence, curiosity, respect and practical learning. We are no longer solely Montessori, but combine these values with modern early years practice and respond to every child’s interests.

Do you have a nursery waiting list?

The availability for child places varies throughout the year. Some rooms might have immediate vacancies, while others operate a waiting list. We recommend getting in touch with us early, even if you do not require a place straight away.

May someone other than me fetch my youngster?

Yes, as long as you inform us beforehand. Someone we have met previously may pick up your child with your permission. If the person is not known to us, they must provide the password you arranged with us before we hand your child over.

Do my child need to be independent in the toilet for Mighty Oaks?

We typically expect children moving up to Mighty Oaks to be toilet trained. If your child has a medical condition or additional support needs, we’ll work with you to agree the best approach.

Which days is the nursery shut?

We are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, the final Monday in May, the September Weekend, and for two weeks during Christmas and New Year, scheduled as closely as possible around North Lanarkshire school holidays. Any additional closures are announced well in advance through our newsletters.
