Moodiesburn Nursery

Help your child begin with confidence with Montessori inspired care from 6 weeks through to 5 years.

Children playing in the nursery garden

For over 25 years, North Lanarkshire families have depended on Viewpark Montessori Nursery to support their children grow up settled and happy.

We take time to understand your child, from the routines that comfort them to the interests that stimulate their curiosity. During play, they can explore these interests, with familiar adults nearby to support them while they learn to do more for themselves.

Free settling sessions enable you and your child to become familiar with us before their first full day.

If you’re looking for a nursery near Moodiesburn, meet our local team, explore the playrooms and decide whether Viewpark suits your family.

A day nursery adjacent to Moodiesburn with 3 rooms

Every one of our three playrooms offers children room to experience their current stage, alongside care and activities carefully tailored to their individual needs.

We will talk about when they are ready to move into the next room, making sure each child takes this step at their own pace.

Little Acorns from the age of 6 weeks to 2 years

Little Acorns offers a peaceful, cosy space for your baby to experience cuddles, floor play and early discoveries alongside familiar carers who know them well.

Consistent mealtimes create a reassuring daily rhythm, helping foster a secure environment, with morning snack at 8.30 am, lunch at 11.30 am and afternoon snack at 3.00 pm.

Around these, we attend to your baby’s needs, allowing time for playing and sleeping whenever necessary.

When you pick up your little one, we will talk about their feeding and sleep, then tell you about the small moments you missed, helping you feel involved in their day.

Sitting in the sand tray

Bright Blossoms aged 2 to 3

At Bright Blossoms, inquisitive toddlers are enthusiastically encouraged to try things on their own!

At snack time, getting themselves drinks and finding their named peg offer simple, manageable opportunities to build independence, with support available whenever required.

This same patient approach also applies to toilet training. We respond to your child’s cues and work alongside you to maintain consistency across home and nursery.

Small accidents are a natural aspect of learning, and we react without making anything of them.

Our supportive service acknowledges that your child learns something new each day, while we guide them thoughtfully at a pace that works for them.

Songs, stories and daily conversations assist children in exploring unfamiliar words. If you are concerned about your child’s speech, our facility will collaborate with you to provide the best possible support for your child.

When emotions become overwhelming, we support children to recognise, name and work through them.

Exploring the snow in the garden

Mighty Oaks for children aged 3 to 5 years of age

At Mighty Oaks, we help your child build the confidence required for beginning school and moving into more formal education.

Everyday successes, such as hanging up a coat or asking an adult, help them develop managing tasks on their own.

Joint play helps children build listening skills, practise taking turns and solve problems with their friends.

Stories, counting and early writing form part of the activities they enjoy, allowing these important skills to flourish organically through play.

The strong friendships established here often extend into P1, offering reassurance during that significant transition.

Running under the trees

A Montessori-inspired nursery near Moodiesburn

Viewpark’s Montessori inspired approach celebrates what children discover independently.

We incorporate this into contemporary early years practice, creating room for outdoor exploration, creative play as well as the ideas children bring to nursery.

Cultivating self-reliance from an early age

Children are encouraged to make choices and play an active role in life at nursery, from clearing away after snacks to caring for their surroundings.

We allow them space to practise, providing support whenever required, until they discover the confidence and quiet pride that arises from doing something for themselves.

Outside play during each season

Children, including our youngest infants, spend time outside all year round, regardless of the weather.

Observing trees and sensing the grass beneath their feet gives younger children new things to observe and investigate, while older children are able to run, climb and dig.

As children move freely outside, they can develop balance and coordination while building confidence in all they can do.

Things can get messy! Put your child in clothes you do not mind seeing covered in mud, along with suitable outdoor layers for the conditions.

Please label their possessions, and before they begin, our staff are always ready to explain what they should bring for their age.

Practical learning via chaotic recreation

At our nursery close to Moodiesburn, children can investigate paint, water, sand and mud in a range of engaging ways.

Touching varied textures, playing with water and creating painted marks promotes sensory discovery and offers new ways for them to communicate.

Your child can try out an idea, watch the result and try again.

Our team encourages curiosity and allows them time to explore what interests them, developing confidence in their own discoveries!

Safeguarding and safety for each child

Our nursery near Moodiesburn has safe entry, with children watched over throughout the day.

The team gets ongoing safeguarding training, as well as first aid and health and safety training.

We complete routine risk assessments and maintain our fire safety equipment, emergency lighting, water safety and electrical safety checks.

If a child has an accident, staff offer immediate comfort and administer first aid when necessary.

Upon collection, we will record and explain every accident, whereas any head injury or injury requiring additional attention will prompt an immediate telephone call to you.

Free moving guidance from our group

At Viewpark, we suggest a minimum of three settling sessions before your child’s first full day at nursery.

Every session is provided at no cost, and we will arrange any further appointments to accommodate your family’s requirements.

You are welcome to remain for as long as needed, although we generally recommend stepping away briefly, as this enables our friendly team and your child to begin developing their own special relationship.

Comforters and dummies are as well warmly welcomed.

The things your nursery fees provide

Your fee includes high-quality care and learning, along with lunches, snacks and drinks, outdoor play, arts and crafts, and the educational resources that the children use.

It also provides regular photographs, observations and learning updates, alongside the weekly menu and monthly newsletter.

Families using funded sessions are not charged a registration fee. However, a registration fee is payable when accepting a non-funded place.

Please get in touch with the service for current fee information.

Tax-Free Childcare

Eligible Moodiesburn families can use Tax Free Childcare to help pay towards nursery costs.

If you are already enrolled with the scheme, your childcare account enables you to pay us directly.

If you are unfamiliar with the scheme, our staff will be happy to guide you.

Meals and refreshments during nursery hours

Every day, a local catering company freshly prepares and delivers lunch to the nursery, while our own team prepares the snacks.

Each child is provided with meals tailored to their stage of development, with weaning support when appropriate.

Before your child begins, we talk through and agree all intolerances, and medical or cultural dietary needs with you, making sure every staff member understands these requirements.

With their parents’ consent, children clean their teeth daily as part of Childsmile, Scotland’s national programme for children’s oral health.

Childcare hours and class slots

We operate from Monday to Friday, between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm, for 50 weeks per year.

Families may select a whole day from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm, a morning session from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm, or an afternoon session from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm.

Frequently posed enquiries about our nursery school in the vicinity of Moodiesburn

What Montessori education entails at Viewpark Nursery

Initially established as a Montessori nursery, we continue to uphold its principles of independence, curiosity, respect and practical learning. Although we are no longer exclusively Montessori, we combine these principles with modern early years practice, adapting our approach to every child’s interests.

Do you have a nursery waiting list?

Child vacancies vary over the year. Some rooms may have places available, while others operate waiting lists. Get in touch with us in advance, even if you do not need a place immediately.

Could someone different fetch my youngster?

Certainly, as long as you inform us beforehand. Someone we have met previously may pick up your child with your permission. If the person is unknown to us, they must provide the password you arranged with us before we hand your child over.

Does my little one have to be toilet independent for Mighty Oaks?

As children progress to Mighty Oaks, we usually request that they are toilet trained. If your child has a medical condition or additional support needs, we will identify the best approach with you.

When is the nursery not open?

We are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, the last Monday in May, the September Weekend, and for two weeks over Christmas and New Year, scheduled as closely as possible around North Lanarkshire school holidays. Any additional closures are announced well in advance through our newsletters.

Connect with our nursery as soon as possible and get to know the professionals.
