Newmains Nursery

Give your child a confident start with Montessori inspired care from 6 weeks to 5 years.

Children playing in the nursery garden

For over 25 years, North Lanarkshire families have relied on Viewpark Montessori Nursery to help their children feel secure and content as they grow.

We make time to understand your child, from the routines that comfort them to the interests that spark their curiosity. They can follow those interests through play, with familiar adults close by as they learn to become more independent.

Our complimentary settling sessions allow you and your child to become familiar with us before attending their first entire day.

Little Acorns ranging from 6 weeks to 2 years

Little Acorns is a little calm room where your baby can have cuddles, floor play and early discoveries with people who know them well.

Consistent mealtimes give the day with a reassuring rhythm, helping to create a secure environment through morning snack at 8.30 am, lunch at 11.30 am and afternoon snack at 3.00 pm.

Throughout these periods, we respond to your baby’s needs, allowing time for play and sleep whenever they require it.

As you collect your baby, we will explain how they have eaten and slept, while recounting the little moments you have missed, allowing you to feel connected to their day.

Sitting in the sand tray

Bright Blossoms 2-3 years old

At Bright Blossoms, inquisitive toddlers get strong support to try things independently.

At snack time, pouring their own drinks and locating their named peg offer small, manageable opportunities to practise independence, with assistance on hand whenever needed.

That same patient approach extends to toilet training. We follow your child’s cues and collaborate with you to preserve consistency between home and nursery.

Small accidents are a normal part of learning, and we respond without making a fuss about them.

Every day offers your child a new discovery, and our supportive service is available to help and guide them at a pace that feels right.

Songs, stories and everyday conversations help children as they explore and practise new vocabulary. If you have concerns about your child’s speech, our facility will collaborate closely with you to offer the most suitable support.

When emotions feel too much, we help children identify them, make sense of them, and find a way through.

Exploring the snow in the garden

Mighty Oaks aged 3 – 5 years

At Mighty Oaks, we help your child build self-confidence for the transition to school and more formal education.

Routine accomplishments, such as putting away a coat or seeking assistance from an adult, help children develop the confidence and skills to handle tasks independently.

Joint play teaches children to listen, wait until it is their turn and resolve problems with their friends.

Through enjoyable play, children discover stories, counting and early writing, developing these skills while enjoying themselves.

The close friendship ties formed here frequently continue into P1, adding a reassuring sense of familiarity to this thrilling next step.

Running under the trees

A Montessori-style nursery in the vicinity of Newmains

Viewpark’s Montessori inspired approach places importance on the learning that children pursue independently.

Alongside modern early years practice, we provide space for children to explore outdoors, play imaginatively and shape nursery life with their own ideas.

Increasing self-reliance in the early years

Children are encouraged to make choices and take an active part in nursery life, from clearing away after snacks to caring for their surroundings.

We allow them space to practise, providing support whenever needed, until they discover the confidence and quiet pride that comes from doing something on their own.

Outside play in every time of year

Children, including our youngest babies, spend time outdoors throughout the year, whatever the conditions.

Observing the trees and sensing the grass under their feet gives younger children with fresh details to discover, while older children can run, scramble and dig freely.

As children move freely outdoors, they can build balance and coordination while developing confidence in everything they can do.

It might get messy, so put your child in clothing you don’t mind getting muddy, with appropriate outdoor layers for the conditions.

Tag all their belongings. Before they start, our team can advise you about age-appropriate things to bring.

Cost-free settling sessions offered by our team

At Viewpark, we recommend that your child takes part in at least three settling sessions before spending their first full day at nursery.

Every session is free, and we will arrange any additional appointments to accommodate your family’s requirements.

You are free to stay as long as necessary, but we normally advise briefly stepping away. This allows our friendly team and your child to start developing their own special relationship.

Comforters and dummies are welcome too.

Availability for children differs across the year. Some rooms might have immediate openings, while others may operate waiting lists. Please get in touch with us early, even if you do not require a place immediately.

Yes, so long as you tell us in advance. A person we have met before may pick up your child with your permission. If the person is unknown to us, they must give us the password you agreed with us before we hand your child over.

When is the nursery not open?

Our doors are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, the final Monday in May, the September Weekend, and for two weeks across Christmas and New Year, aligning as closely as possible with North Lanarkshire school holidays. We share any further closures well in advance through our newsletters.
