Children playing in the nursery garden

We take time to understand each child, from the routines that comfort them to the interests that spark their curiosity. Through play, they are able to explore these interests, with familiar adults nearby to help them as they develop greater independence.

A day facility close to Wishaw with a trio of rooms

Our three playrooms each offer children room to thrive at their present stage, with activities and care customised to their needs.

We’ll discuss with you when they’re ready to move into the following room, allowing every child to take this step at their own pace.

Little Acorns ranging from 6 weeks to 2 years

Little Acorns is a calm, cosy room where your baby can enjoy cuddles, enjoy floor play and make early discoveries with well-known people who know them well.

Consistent mealtimes create a comforting day-to-day rhythm, helping to foster a secure environment, with morning snack at 8.30 am, lunch at 11.30 am and afternoon snack at 3.00 pm.

Around these, we address your baby’s needs, leaving time for playing and sleeping whenever needed.

When you pick up your baby, we’ll describe their meals and sleep, then tell you about the small moments you missed, helping you take part in their day.

Bright Blossoms between 2 and 3 years

At Bright Blossoms, inquisitive toddlers are given ample encouragement to try things on their own.

At snack time, pouring their own drinks and locating their named peg offer small, manageable opportunities to practise being independent, with help on hand whenever required.

That same patient approach also applies to toilet training. We follow your child’s cues and collaborate with you to preserve consistency between home and nursery.

Minor mishaps are anticipated during learning, so we do not ever overreact.

Each day offers your little one a new discovery, and our caring service is here to support and guide them at a pace that feels comfortable.

Songs, stories and everyday conversations assist children in exploring unfamiliar words. If you are concerned about your child’s speech, our facility will collaborate with you to offer the best possible support for your child.

When emotions feel overwhelming, we support children recognise them, understand them, and work through them.

Exploring the snow in the garden

Mighty Oaks for ages 3 up to 5 years of age

At Mighty Oaks, we nurture your child’s self-confidence, preparing them for the transition into school and the more formal world of education.

Daily successes, such as hanging up a coat or asking an adult, support them practise managing tasks on their own.

Participating together helps children as they develop listening skills, practise taking turns and resolve problems with their friends.

Stories, counting and early writing are integrated into activities they like, enabling them to develop these skills through play.

The close friendships established here often extend into P1, offering reassurance during that significant transition.

Running under the trees

A Montessori styled early years centre in the vicinity of Wishaw

Viewpark’s Montessori inspired philosophy attaches particular importance to children’s independent learning.

Alongside contemporary early years approaches, we offer opportunities for outdoor discovery and imaginative play, while appreciating the ideas children contribute to nursery.

Growing self-reliance from a young age

Children are encouraged to make choices and participate actively in nursery life, from tidying away after snacks to looking after their surroundings.

We allow them space to practise, offering support whenever required, until they find the confidence and quiet pride that comes from doing something for themselves.

Outdoor recreation for each season

Young children, including our youngest babies, enjoy time outdoors all year round, whatever the conditions.

Watching the trees and sensing the grass under their feet offers younger children fresh discoveries, whilst older children have space to run, climb and dig.

As children move freely outside, they can develop balance and coordination while building confidence in everything they can do.

It could get messy! Dress your child in clothing you don’t mind getting muddy, with appropriate outdoor layers for the weather.

Please label their possessions, and before they begin, our team are always ready to clarify what they should bring for their age.

Hands-on instruction through chaotic play

Paint, water, sand and mud provide children at our nursery near Wishaw with plenty to investigate

Encountering different textures, pouring water and making painted marks allow children to investigate through their senses while finding new ways to express themselves.

Your child can test an idea, observe the outcome and try once more.

Our team fosters curiosity and gives children the time to pursue what captivates them, reinforcing confidence in their own discoveries.

Wellbeing and protection for each youngster

Located near Wishaw, our nursery runs a secure access system, while children are supervised throughout the day.

Our team gets continuing training in safeguarding, alongside instruction in first aid and health and safety.

We conduct regular risk assessments and keep our fire safety equipment, emergency lighting, water safety and electrical safety checks up to date.

When a child has an accident, they are given immediate comfort and first aid whenever necessary.

At collection, we will record and clarify every accident, whereas any head injury or injury requiring further attention will prompt an immediate telephone call to you.

Free integration sessions with our group

At Viewpark, we recommend that your child attends at least three settling sessions before spending their first full day at nursery.

There is no fee for any session, and we will organise further appointments to suit your family’s needs.

You are welcome to stay for as long as you need! However, we generally advise briefly stepping away, allowing our friendly team and your child the chance to start developing their own special relationship.

Comforters and dummies are also warmly welcomed.

Commonly asked questions about our nursery centre near Wishaw

What Montessori education means at Viewpark Nursery

Do you have a nursery waiting list?

Availability for children differs across the year. Some rooms might have immediate openings, while others may operate waiting lists. Please contact us in advance, even if you do not require a place straight away.

Certainly, as long as you inform us beforehand. If we have met the individual previously, they may pick up your child with your authorisation. If they are unknown to us, we will need the password agreed with you before handing over your child to them.

Will my little one have got to be independent in the toilet for Mighty Oaks?

We generally expect children moving up to Mighty Oaks to be toilet trained. If your child lives with a medical condition or additional support needs, we’ll collaborate with you to agree the best approach.

When is the childcare centre closed?

Our doors are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, the final Monday in May, the September Weekend, and for two weeks over Christmas and New Year, aligning as closely as possible with North Lanarkshire school holidays. We share any further closures well in advance via our newsletters.
